Meet our Child and Family Learning Centre volunteers!

Schools aren’t the only place you’ll find an abundance of wonderful volunteers – you’ll also find them in our Child and Family Learning Centres (CFLCs)!

CFLCs are free purpose-built spaces offering a place of support, learning and play for children aged 0-5 years and their families.

At CFLCs, parents can access services like child health nurses, speech pathologists and can chat with staff and other mums and dads about all things parenting.

There are currently 13 CFLCs that operate across Tasmania, with five more due for completion in 2023-24.

CFLCs offer a fantastic service within their local community, so we thought we’d introduce you to some of the unsung heroes behind the scenes at some of our Centres – the volunteers!

The Beaconsfield CFLC Champions

The Champions are a group of 15 community-minded parents/carers who volunteer as part of the advisory group for Beaconsfield CFLC. The Champions ensure that the CFLC programs are meeting the needs of the community and assist in organising many events throughout the year.

Centre Leader Stewart Bell said the Champions are a huge asset to the community.

“They have so many wonderful ideas for activities, events and improvements, but also help raise awareness of what we do in the community and what we can offer for families.”

“We always welcome new members – it’s a great opportunity for the community to have their say and help us to improve outcomes for our little people!”

Beaconsfield CFLC Champions: Richelle, Alannah, Eloise & Roscoe, Laura & Georgie, Kendall & Indianna, Hayley & Ruby, Ashleigh, Justine, Danielle, Stewert Bell (Centre Leader).

Vicki at ptunarra CFLC

Vicki has been volunteering at ptunarra CFLC since 2014 and is a regular face in the kitchen each week!

She has a background in the early years and hospitality industries and is a wealth of knowledge for all things cooking and local community. Vicki loves sharing recipes and ideas, stocking the freezer with tasty morsels and engaging with families.  She has been involved in numerous programs and events held at ptunarra over the years and is always keen to lend a helping hand.

She provides so much fun, laughter and passion to the Centre – thank you Vicki!

Lisa at ptunarra CFLC

Lisa has been involved with ptunarra since her beautiful Gracie was just a baby.  Initially they attended Baby and Me to make connections with other local families.  Since then, Lisa has been a regular face at ptunarra and has been an active member of the Parent Advisory Body, and volunteers to support staff and families.

Lisa values the support and relationships attending ptunarra has provided and is more than happy to pass on her knowledge to others.  She is greatly appreciated around the Centre for her continued contributions!

Way to go Vicki, Lisa and the Beaconsfield CFLC Champions!
