2022 Student Wellbeing and Engagement Survey
The 2022 Student Wellbeing and Engagement Survey (SWES) took place in Term 3, 2022. 28,527 students took part.
Overall, the state-level data (responses across all schools/year levels) indicates that results remain fairly stable with previous years.
The survey provides useful data on the wellbeing of our students. It will inform our approaches to student wellbeing at a school and system level.

Wellbeing for Learning – Child and Student Wellbeing Strategy
The Child and Student Wellbeing Strategy commits to the development of valid and reliable measures of child and student wellbeing. This data will be used to inform future effort and planning.
This is a universal approach to wellbeing in the student voice for all students.
All students in Years 4 – 12 will undertake the Student Wellbeing and Engagement Survey annually.

2022 Student Wellbeing and Engagement Survey Data
Participating
- 90 per cent of students felt connecting to adults in their home
- 87 per cent of students felt they had good quality social support from peers
- 63 per cent of senior students reported being resilient in times of stress
Learning
- 94 per cent of students reported they had good relationships and support from their teachers
- 80 per cent of students reported that they persist with classroom tasks to support their learning
- 80 per cent of students that reported they persevere at tasks
Loved, Safe and Valued
- 89 per cent of students felt connected to adults at school
- 84 per cent of students feel safe at school most of the time
- 72 per cent of students felt that teachers and students care about each other & treat each other with respect
Material Basics
- 71 per cent of students reported having a good night’s sleep*
- 68 per cent of students reported having a nutritional breakfast*
- 84 per cent of students reported having participated in organised activities at least once a week
Healthy
- 77 per cent of students reported being generally optimistic
- 30 per cent of students reported they frequently worry about things at home and at school
Positive sense of culture & identity
- 71 per cent of students feel that they belong at their school
- 79 per cent of students feel part of a group of friends and usually fit in with other students
* based on students reporting they had a good night’s sleep or ate breakfast at least three times a week
