Families of Tasmanian primary school students now have access thousands of stories being read by Australian and New Zealand storytellers through StoryBox Library.

StoryBox Library is an Australian subscription-based website and app, created by teachers, for children to engage with stories being read aloud online by an all-star cast of storytellers.

All Tasmanian government, independent and Catholic primary schools now have free access and will be sharing it with families so StoryBox Library can be used at home.

The initiative is part of the Department for Education, Children and Young People’s Lifting Literacy initiative.

Reading widely and engaging with different types of stories builds literacy skills and encourages young people to become readers for life.

StoryBox Library is designed to meet the needs of the community, with closed captions, Auslan sign language, and a combination of audio and visual elements included.

For more information on accessing StoryBox Library visit the StoryBox Library web page.
