All DECYP social media pages are subject to the following terms of use. This includes schools, colleges, libraries, and Child and Family Learning Centres.
In interacting on these pages, you agree to:
- Model respectful communication and online etiquette
- Support the learning of our community and build positive digital reputations
- Not misuse or manipulate any photographs posted on our DECYP pages, including through the use of AI
- Keep your personal information private to minimise your risk of receiving unwanted contact.
DECYP is committed to supporting all children and young people in a respectful manner. While we know most people will behave in an appropriate manner, if your comment/message/or activity online does not adhere to the values of DECYP, then action can include the following:
- Hiding your comment
- Blocking you from the page
- Considering what further action might be appropriate in the circumstances. In extreme circumstances, this may include reporting your comment or post or activity to Facebook, or the Police.
DECYP close comments when monitoring is not available. This period will vary depending on the resources available to each DECYP’s social media page e.g. school pages will close comments immediately after posting. DECYP reserves the right to hide comments, especially when they may elicit harmful, defamatory, or otherwise unlawful user contributions. From time to time, DECYP may reach out to members of the public who are being disrespectful on our pages to alert them to our Term of Use and appropriate online behaviour.
Your privacy:
Be aware that third-party Product providers (eg Facebook) collect content about you when you use the Product. For example, they log when you’re using and have last used the Product, and what posts, videos and other content you view on the Products. They also collect information about how you use features. If you have privacy concerns around the collection of your data by this third-party, you may choose to select an alternative method of communicating with DECYP, schools, colleges, libraries, and Child and Family Learning Centres.
Content published on DECYP social media is publicly available. While we take steps to protect our staff, students and community, AI continues to evolve rapidly and raises some risks for how content can be reproduced. We remain committed to working closely with the eSafety Commissioner to protect our schools, students, staff, and community.
