About the Young Archies

Awards are presented in year categories for the best portrait of a person created by a student in the last 12 months.

The subject of the portrait must be of someone personally known to the student, like a friend, family member, classmate or teacher.

Portraits can be in any 2D media, like drawings, paintings or collages, but cannot include photography. Digital artwork cannot have been created using Artificial Intelligence.

Young Archies Exhibitions

All artworks will be exhibited in Hobart at the UTAS School of Creative Arts and Media.

Following this, a touring exhibition of the 2026 Young Archies Awards prize recipients will visit Launceston and the North-West.

Hobart Exhibition

  • Address: UTAS School of School of Creative and Performing Arts, Hunter Street, Hobart TAS 7000
  • Dates: Monday 31 August – Sunday 13 September 2026
  • Opening times: 11.00pm-4.00pm
  • Exhibition of all artworks

Launceston Exhibition

  • Address: Launceston Library, Level 2 Learn Floor, Civic Square, Launceston TAS 7250
  • Dates: Tuesday 22 September – Saturday 10 October 2026

North West Exhibition

  • Address: Devonport Library, Paranaple Centre, 137 Rooke St, Devonport TAS 7310
  • Dates: Tuesday 13 October – Saturday 31 October 2026
