Community access to school facilities

Schools can provide access to their sports facilities for community use.  Sports facilities may include, ovals, indoor multi -use courts, swimming pools etc.

Sports facilities are hired out when they’re not needed by students.  Access to school sports facilities is predominantly out of school hours.

Use the map below to find schools with specific sports facilities. Click on the marker for the school’s details and contact them for hiring information.

Types of agreements for access to school sports facilities

Casual Hire and License Agreements

Schools can provide community access to their sports facilities through short-term casual hire or licence agreements.

  • Casual hire agreements are used for non- exclusive access to facilities of less than 12 months.
  • Licence agreements are used for non-exclusive access to facilities for specified period of time longer than 12 months.

Joint Development and Use Agreements

Joint development and use agreements are used when a non-DECYP partner makes some contribution to a facility in return for access to, or use of the facility. For example, this may include,  a donation to upgrade the facility or a request for a grant to build on school land by a group in order to access a facility suitable for their own use.

Joint Development and Use Agreements will only be entered into where there is a clear benefit to DECYP.
