Families are the first and most important influence, inspiration and support for children and young people. DECYP commits to build and nurture relationships with families to connect wellbeing and learning at home and school. At DECYP, family engagement is everyone’s business.
Our goal is to work in partnership with families to support our Strategic Plan.
Together with Families is DECYP’s system-wide commitment to strengthen our support for leaners by improving engagement between staff, families and our system. This work is a critical part of fulfilling our Strategic Plan commitment to support all learners to succeed as connected, resilient, creative and curious thinkers in our schools, Child and Family Learning Centres (CFLCs), and libraries. The approach is not something new, or a one-size-fits-all way to engage with families. It aims to support and fit in with the work we are already doing.
The Together with Families approach sets out:
- a commitment to learners and families
- shared expectations for how everyone in DECYP works with families.
- a focus on growing capacity of staff, families and system to work together with learners at the centre.
