Key information
- DECYP relief staff must complete three modules each year:
- Mandatory Reporting Training
- Child Sexual Abuse Awareness Training
- Acknowledge that you have read and understood DECYP’s Conduct and Behaviour Policy (PDF, 292KB) and Conduct Standards (PDF, 168KB).
- You must complete the modules before you work with children and young people.
- You are required to provide your completion certificates to your manager or DECYP contact officer alongside any other pre-employment checks like your Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (RWVP).
- Certificates are valid until 27 February 2027.
Access the training
If you completed the training in 2025, you can log in to your existing MyCareer account to complete the 2026 training.
If you are new to MyCareer, you will need to click the sign-up button on the login page. You can sign up with any email address. It does not need to be your DECYP email address.
You will need to enter a security key relevant to your worksite. These are listed below:
- Schools and CFLCs – DECYP1
- Libraries Tasmania and Corporate – DECYP2
- Child Safety and Youth Justice – DECYP3
- Ashley Youth Detention Centre- DECYP4

Access support
Talk to your manager or DECYP contact officer if you need support to complete the Safeguarding training. Support might include access to a device or to internet.
For further advice you or your manager can contact safeguardingtraining@decyp.tas.gov.au.
Exemptions
If you are experiencing distress from the prospect of completing Safeguarding training, you or your manager/DECYP contact officer should reach out to the Office of Safeguarding Children and Young People on safeguardingtraining@decyp.tas.gov.au.
The Office will discuss options with you, including the exemption process and how to best receive the training’s key messages in a way that supports your wellbeing.
