Model of Care
The Youth Justice Model of Care provides a coordinated and consistent approach to the delivery of trauma-informed, evidence-based and culturally safe services.
These services are focused on children and young people in contact with, or at risk of coming into contact with, the youth justice system, and supports their families across Tasmania.
The Youth Justice Model of Care is a key deliverable under the Youth Justice Blueprint 2024 – 2034 (PDF, 1MB). It is a critical part of reforming the youth justice system in Tasmania. The Youth Justice Model of Care promotes consistent and therapeutic ways of working for children and young people.
The Youth Justice Model of Care contributes to the implementation of the recommendations from the Commission of Inquiry into the Tasmanian Government’s Responses to Child Sexual Abuse in Institutional Settings.
Youth Justice Model of Care Implementation Plan
The Youth Justice Model of Care Implementation Plan (PDF, 840KB) details how we are supporting the change to a therapeutic youth justice system. It will also assist organisations to implement the Youth Justice Model of Care within their services.
