Teacher Intern Placement Program (TIPP)

- Get paid to learn?
- Be supported to complete your university study in a department school?
- Work alongside an experienced Mentor Teacher?
- Secure a permanent position with the Department for Education, Children and Young People?
TIPP scholarships are awarded to UTAS students in their final year of initial teacher education

What will I receive as an intern?
- a minimum scholarship of $30,000 with the potential for paid employment in Terms 3 and 4 on a Limited Authority to Teach (LAT)
- a guaranteed permanent teaching position with the DECYP on the successful completion of the TIPP
- a mentor teacher, who is given dedicated time release to support the development of your teaching practice
- complete your studies, with a minimum of 21 hours (3 days) study time per week on your school site
- accommodation and/or travel expense support, if applicable.
Am I eligible?
Applications are open to UTAS Initial Teacher Education students who are on track to graduate by the end of their internship year. TIPP internships are awarded based on the following criteria:
- Demonstrated aptitude for becoming a quality teacher.
- Successful completion of Professional Experience placements prior to final year placements.
- A maximum of four units per semester to complete in your final year of study.
- A demonstrated commitment to teaching in a Tasmanian Government school.
- Ongoing, unrestricted ability to work in Australia (working visas cannot be provided).
- Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Education (LANTITE) completed prior to Internship commencement.
