Hobart College is situated on Mt Nelson/kriwalayti, amongst 65 hectares of native bushland, easily accessible via the Southern Outlet, in Hobart.

The campus itself houses exceptional facilities, including an environmentally high-spec Sustainability Learning Centre, and six further main buildings, each providing a centre of excellence for a variety of curriculum areas: the Health Physical Education and Outdoor Education building contains basketball court, fitness centre and indoor climbing gym, however the Tasmanian environment is our classroom of choice for an extensive Outdoor Education program.

Our maths/science building houses state-of-the-art labs, flexible learning areas for students to gather and learn, and the friendliest team of dedicated teachers in this field. Our humanities block contains not just our languages hub and English, but also Media, VET related child care centre, and an impressive hospital ward simulation for students seeking a nursing pathway.

A recently renovated auditorium plays host to not only visiting performers but our own performing arts courses, including music, dance and drama. The architecturally impressive A block is home to administration, student support services, educational support hub, student canteen and lounge as well as a stunning library.

Of course, Hobart College is the modern iteration of our 1913 heritage beginnings, so archives of a history of educational excellence in Tasmanian public education are also housed in A block. With students seeking to attain their TCE through ATAR and VET pathways, it is assuring to know that our technologies block boasts high-end specialist facilities in automotive, catering, visual art and information technology related course, just to name a few.

The impressive academic history of Hobart College is a point of pride, but nothing is more important than the journey of each of our individual students. We encourage students to not only explore courses with curiosity and to know that staff are committed to helping each student achieve their goals.

All courses listed in this Course Guide are intended offerings only and availability for the selected year will depend on enrolment numbers. VET offerings are also subject to suitability processes and MoU arrangements. Please contact the school or college to determine current availability.
