Children and young people have the right to be heard and take part in decisions that affect their lives.

To mark Children’s Week, we’ve launched our new Participation and empowerment guide.

The guide helps organisations, professionals and communities work with children and young people in meaningful ways.

It has been developed in partnership with the Youth Network of Tasmania.

Why participation matters

Children and young people are experts in their own lives.

When we listen to their views, we gain valuable insights. These insights can help shape better decisions, services and outcomes.

Participation is more than asking for feedback.

It is about listening, building trust and giving children and young people real opportunities to have a say.

The guide shows how participation can become a normal part of the way we work.
