Hobart College is currently operating above capacity following continued enrolment growth in recent years, including demand from students outside the established government feeder school pathway.

The Department is introducing a new intake area enrolment strategy for Hobart College for the 2027 school year. This is to help manage increasing enrolments, ensuring students continue to have access to high-quality learning opportunities and that Hobart College remains a great place for students and staff to learn and work.

When will the changes take effect?

The new changes will apply to new students seeking enrolment to Hobart College for the 2027 school year.

Who will continue to be eligible for enrolment at Hobart College?

The changes do not affect students who:

  • Are currently enrolled at Hobart College.
  • Attend high schools in year 10 that feed directly into Hobart College – Dover District School, Huonville High School, Kingston High School, Taroona High School and Woodbridge School.
  • Live within the intake areas which feed into Hobart College.
  • Have a sibling who will be enrolled at Hobart College in 2027.

Who will be affected?

If a student does not meet the criteria above and lives outside of the intake areas.
