Southern Support School is a dedicated support school for students from Kindergarten to Year 12. Located in Howrah, our school welcomes students from across Southern Tasmania who require an extensive level of educational adjustment to support their access and engagement with education.

Our Years 11 and 12 program has been designed to support our young people as they make the transition from formalised education to post-school life. We rotate courses on offer each year so students have access to a wide variety of subjects, enabling them to explore their interests and strengths, and prepare them for life beyond school. Our focus is on providing meaningful work experience and skill building opportunities, both at school and in the community. We work closely with students, families, carers and community partners to support positive and well-planned pathways beyond school.

Our experienced staff deliver individualised programs tailored to each student’s strengths, goals and learning needs., Years 11 and 12 programs incorporate TASC-accredited courses and support students to work towards achieving their TCEA certification. Learning programs are focused on goal setting. engagement, independence, and skill development that are meaningful for each young person’s future.

We support our learners in a purpose-built, contemporary, inclusive and communication-rich environment. Our aim is to empower our young people to build confidence, develop life skills and achieve their full potential within and beyond the school setting.
