Our Lifting Literacy Implementation Plan has several key actions to support children birth to five years of age, their parents and carers and the professionals who work to support them. Our aim is for children to have the best possible foundation for lifelong literacy.
Talk. Read. TOGETHER is a statewide campaign that supports parents and carers with simple, practical information and resources to build their child’s language and literacy skills from birth.
We are proud to have developed the Qualiteach Birth to Five online training course which provides free literacy-focused professional learning for Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) services.
ECEC services that complete this training are recognised as Lifting Literacy Champions.

Talk. Read. TOGETHER
Talk. Read. TOGETHER. is an early years literacy campaign. The goal is to give parents and carers clear, simple, and consistent messages about how to support their children.
Research shows simple acts like talking with your child and looking at books supports early reading skills.

Become a Lifting Literacy Champion
To become a Lifting Literacy Champion, Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) providers must have at least 75% of educators complete the Qualiteach Birth to Five Literacy Training Modules.
To become a Super Lifting Literacy Champion, ECEC providers must have at least 75% of educators complete both the Qualiteach Birth to Five Literacy Training Modules and the AEDC Professional Learning Modules.
Lifting Literacy Champions:
- Child Care Connections Benjafield – Moonah – Lifting Literacy Champion
- Giggles Early Learning – Smithton – Lifting Literacy Champion
- Hilliard Christian School – Early Learning – West Moonah – Lifting Literacy Champion
Lifting Literacy Champions receive:
- digital badge for display on websites and email
- certificate for printing, and
- recognition on the Lifting Literacy Champions List.

AEDC Professional Learning Modules
The Australian Early Development Census (AEDC) Professional Learning Modules are designed to support early years educators in using AEDC data to inform their practice and help further support the children in their care.
The six self-paced modules are accessible across all digital platforms and explore practical tools and insights for using AEDC data.
