The Department for Education, Children and Young People is committed to upholding the rights of children and young people and protecting them from harm.
Our Safeguarding Framework establishes and describes the Department’s overarching approach to safeguarding children and young people from abuse, with particular emphasis on child sexual abuse.

- Our Safeguarding Framework directly aligns with and will support the implementation of Tasmania’s Child and Youth Safe Standards.
The Safeguarding Framework applies to all areas of the Department. Under the Framework, all workers must act in accordance with their legal obligations and the Department’s policies, procedures and guidelines for safeguarding children and young people from abuse. A list of the relevant policies and procedures is provided in the Framework.
