Program description

The purpose of the program is to strengthen professional practice and foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement in DECYP schools. Participants are introduced to practical frameworks and structured processes that will enable them to guide early career teachers through purposeful, evidence-informed mentoring cycles that support continuous professional growth and improved classroom practice. Teacher mentors will learn and apply mentoring concepts and skills in realistic scenarios, equipping them to effectively support early career teachers in their roles while building mentoring capability and professional practice across their school.

The four modules include:
1. Mentor Essentials
2. The Mentoring Process
3. Mentoring in Action
4. Sustaining Mentoring Practice

Program outcomes

Participants will:

• Develop a shared understanding of mentoring and demonstrate key mentoring capabilities.

• Develop effective communication strategies to build trust, engage mentees, provide feedback, and facilitate productive conversations.

• Gain the confidence to embed and sustain mentoring practices within DECYP schools.
